JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Freight Operator/Fleet Optimizer is responsible for the day-to-day commercial and operational oversight of Aramco’s fleet of time-chartered and/or spot-chartered tanker vessels. This role serves as a key interface between shipowners, vessel masters, charterers, traders, agents, brokers, and internal teams (e.g., chartering, technical, vetting, and trading departments) to ensure safe, compliant, and cost-effective voyage execution. The position demands strong commercial awareness, quick decision-making, and often 24/7 availability for critical logistical chains in the trading and shipping sector.
KEY DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement strategies for the commercial optimization of the time charter fleet.
- Analyze market trends and economic indicators to forecast demand and inform fleet planning decisions. And to determine optimal deployment locations and routes.
- Negotiate and manage bunker requirements supporting the Aramco fleet of vessels.
- Strategically allocate vessels within ATC's fleet to maximize the TCE and minimize exposure points.
- Collaborate with internal teams such as Operations, Claims, Finance, and Legal to support fleet operations and resolve issues.
- Monitor vessel performance and operational efficiency to ensure adherence to performance standards and Charter Party terms.
- Collaborate with Freight Traders to align fleet deployment with trading strategies and market demands.
- Optimize vessel routing and scheduling to maximize profitability and minimize costs.
- Manage relationships with external stakeholders including but not limited to brokers, ship-owners, and charterers.
- Ensure compliance with international regulations and industry standards related to fleet operations.
- Implement risk management strategies to mitigate operational and financial risks.
- Coordinate emergency response procedures and contingency plans for fleet disruptions.
- Provide regular reports and updates on fleet performance and key performance indicators.
- Perform additional miscellaneous responsibilities as dictated by the business and assigned by the direct manager.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education and Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Marine Transportation, Business Administration, Engineering, or Economics.
- Sailing experience on liquid bulk tankers with a rank as Captain/Master Mariner
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
- Strong networking skills to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make sound decisions under pressure with limited information.
Preferred
- Master's Degree in Marine Transportation or Business Administration (MBA).
Experience and Knowledge
- 4-6 of experience in vessel operations.
- Up-to-date knowledge of world demand, supply, and market dynamics.
- Experience in risk management and mitigation strategies.
Preferred
- Familiarity with legal aspects related to chartering and shipping contracts.
Abilities and Specific Requirements
- Ability to analyze market trends and make informed decisions.
- Proficiency in relevant software and tools for chartering and logistics management.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and multiple priorities effectively.
