Position Overview:

The Head of Feedstock/Fuel Oil Trading will report to the Head of Supply & Trading within Aramco Trading Americas Trading organization.  This role is responsible for overseeing the trading, procurement  and optimization of feedstock resources to ensure cost efficiency, supply chain reliability and alignment with global company aims. This role will lead and develop a team of Trading and Operations/Scheduling professionals that buy, sell and schedule Feedstocks (Fuel Oils, VGO’s, Distillates, Residuals and Intermediates) in support of trading objectives both local and international. The role involves market analysis, supplier relationship management, and strategic decision-making to support the organization's operational and financial objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead efforts by the Feedstock Supply & Trading team by overseeing and engaging in value adding discretionary trading activities.
  • Trade feedstocks in spot or term markets to capitalize on market opportunities.
  • Conduct and/or manage market research and analysis to forecast supply and demand, price trends, and potential risks.
  • Engage in, develop and grow collaborative relationships to increase the security of supply, access to markets and increase the overall profitability and efficiency of the Aramco Trading system.
  • Oversee the logistics and transportation of feedstocks to ensure timely delivery and cost efficiency.
  • Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with the operations team to optimize storage and usage.
  • Continuously improve the working relationship with stakeholders at refineries. Seek opportunities and identify projects to add value.
  • Develop risk mitigation strategies, including hedging and diversification of supply sources. Use financial instruments such as futures, options, and swaps to hedge against price volatility.
  • Collaborate with risk management and finance teams to ensure effective controls and reporting.

Scope and Scale:

  • ~70 million barrels per year (200,000 barrels per day) of volume.
  • ~$75 million dollars per year of OPEX spend.
  • ~3 million barrels of shore tank storage; domestic and international.
  • ~4 US Flagged Ocean Going and Inland Barge Marine vessels, plus spot equipment.
  •   Manage approximately 5 direct reports.

Experience and Qualifications Required:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in business, science, economics or supply chain management is required.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in feedstock procurement, trading, or related fields, preferably in the energy, agriculture, and/or biofuels sectors with demonstrated expertise in international feedstocks and intermediates supply, trading and operations activities. Technical understanding of refining or production processes is required.
  • Proven track record in supplier negotiations and market analysis.
  • Expert-level knowledge of qualities and specifications of Feedstocks and Intermediates.
  • Experience in risk management and hedging strategies. Understanding of book-level exposure and risk trading management.
  • Motivated, collaborative and creative character traits.
  • Must be able to work in an office environment located in downtown Houston, TX.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Regional expertise in Gulf Coast (Houston, Mississippi River, etc.) and Latin America (Mexico, Cent. Amer., etc.) markets.
  • Experience with chemical engineering and/or the refining processes.

Experience with marine technical or chartering roles/processes.
