Accounting Staff Analyst (387063)

Basic Function:

This position reports to the Supervisor of the Tax Accounting Group and provides professional corporate tax administration and planning for the company and its subsidiaries.   This position will analyze taxes obligations are minimized and are in compliance with applicable federal, state and local tax laws.  This position will work with the Tax Group to file federal, state and local income, ad valorem, franchise, and other tax and governmental reporting for Aramco Services Company (ASC) and Subsidiaries.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Advise supervisor on all matters of taxation affecting ASC and its subsidiaries
  • Participate with company Tax Counsel and company executives in planning activities and operations to minimize tax liabilities and maximize cash flow
  • Follow tax legislation and alert management to possible changes in laws and regulations that have a significant bearing on Company operations and plans
  • Coordinate tax audits, provide appropriate information, explain accounting records and the methods and basis for their use, and participate in negotiation of disputes or controversies
  • Monitor status and handling of subsidiary tax audits and review records destruction schedule to ensure proper retention
  • Accumulate, analyze, and process financial accounting data in order to prepare tax returns, estimated tax payments, forecasts and financial accounting estimates of tax
  • Prepare and file federal, state and local corporate tax returns
  • Assist the tax manager with gathering information and drafting responses to various IRS and state notices
  • Ensure adherence to compliance-related deadlines such as extensions, estimated payments, tax return filings and other tax related services
  • Understand and research basic to moderately complex tax issues and their application to the business
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or Economics required; MBA or CPA highly desirable
  • Five (5) years diversified experience in corporate and/or public accounting required with three years experience directly related to area of specific job assignment desirable; candidates with seven to nine (7-9) years experience preferred
  • Previous experience with Major Corporation or national accounting firms strongly desired
  • Must have a high degree of analytical ability and the capability to plan for effective decisions and initiative
  • Effective written and oral communication skills are essential
  • Must be able to interface with all levels, both within and outside the Company effectively and have a familiarity with tax compliance software and with computers in general
  • Must be able to communicate and comprehend English accurately, clearly and concisely at a level required to perform the job as outlined
  • Must possess good work habits, a strong work ethic, and be able to adhere to company work hours, policies, and standard business etiquette
