Budgets & Accountability Analyst (365051)

Basic Function

Provide professional budgetary and accountability service in a staff capacity to support department and/or division management.  Functions include budget, performance indices, cost control, contracts, and technical or business analysis projects.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare, coordinate, manage contract action requests for the department
  • Act as liaison between all stakeholders participating in the contracting process
  • Work with key stakeholders to maintain an efficient process for contract approval, execution, amendment and retention of contracts
  • Assist with the preparation of operating plans, manpower and expenditure budgets, performance indices review, and accountability reports such as those in the accounting, budgeting, or timekeeping systems
  • Conduct weekly review of A/P status reports to ensure efficient and timely payment of vendor invoices and closeout of projects
  • Prepare routine or special reports for department management review and approval
  • Employ negotiation and conflict resolution skills with vendors and internal clients to facilitate company objectives while reducing overall costs in order to realize optimal cost and operational efficiencies
  • Conduct studies related to technical or business analysis, productivity and effective utilization of funds and resources or other areas of concern
  • Procure and collaborate with Procurement to acquire hardware, software and subscription services for all units of the department
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, contracting policies and procedures 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or closely related degree
  • Four (4) years diversified experience in cost control, budget systems, business systems, Accounting/Financial systems or related activities
  • Team player who can identify and discuss problems for assigned action to arrive at solutions and suggests improvements in handling and analyzing compiled data to resolve discrepancies or reporting problems
  • Experience with computer and communications contracts and invoicing preferred
  • Must be able to communicate and comprehend accurately, clearly and concisely in English at a level required to perform the job as outlined
  • Must possess good work habits, a strong work ethic, and be able to adhere to company work hours, policies, and standard business etiquette
