Process Engineer (870-3406)

Basic Function

The Process Engineer applies engineering expertise to solve technical problems relating to Aramco Performance Materials (APM) manufacturing and process development activities.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedules and provide work direction when required for preparation of studies, designs, processes, reports, correspondence and related data and assure the efficiency, adequacy and conformance to overall objectives of all phases of a robust, cost-effective manufacturing process
  • Formulate the basis for the resolution of problems as it relates to process engineering by conducting experiments, analyzing and evaluating all pertinent data with respect to scope, effect, economic impact and other applicable considerations
  • Initiate detailed work outline and make decisions as to basic approaches, processes or equipment
  • Perform work for final development of specialized or technical proposals and proposed projects
  • Perform scale-up activities from Laboratory (to Pilot) to Production scale
  • Utilize sound Project Management skills to successfully handle multiple projects
  • Bring all elements of a project together, make certain that all elements proceed satisfactorily on schedule and initiate corrective action as required
  • Conduct experiments and studies in support of individual projects to improve safety, reliability, capacity, yield and quality
  • Document all results in the form of Memos & Technical Reports
  • Participate in all Lab Specific Activities, including EHS
  • Discuss, coordinate and resolve problems with personnel through APM, Aramco Services Company (ASC), Saudi Aramco and affiliates, and with outside company organizations as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or other Engineering discipline required
  • Five (5) years applicable experience in the chemicals and manufacturing industries, preferably in the Polyol business or a process development group
  • Must have hands-on experience with laboratory scale high pressure chemical batch reactors and continuous stirred tank reactors (CSTR)
  • Must have the ability to work in and lead project teams and efficiently direct the work of others
  • Proven success in completion of research projects with aggressive timelines and varying degrees of complexity is required
  • Must have thorough knowledge of engineering practices and hold demonstrated ability to apply Statistical techniques (e.g., DOE, Six Sigma methodology) for process development and improvement
  • Must be able to communicate and comprehend accurately, clearly and concisely in English at a level required to perform the job as outlined; excellent written and verbal communication skills required
  • Must possess good work habits, a strong work ethic, and be able to adhere to company work hours, policies, and standard business etiquette
