Applications Development Manager (870-3392)

Basic Function

The Applications Development Manager is responsible for evaluating new, experimental products and developing polyurethane applications for new or existing ConvergeĀ® products to support the growth of Aramco Performance Materials (APM).

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform all supervisory responsibilities common to the Division-level as established by management
  • Develop and implement the required procedures and policies for Applications Development group
  • Initiate and manage multiple application development projects to meet the needs of current and new customers
  • Support the transfer of new applications from one region to another and manage the global application development activities
  • Coordinate and prioritize application development activities in alignment with the business development strategy
  • Responsible for prioritizing department projects, working closely with other APM business teams
  • Develop and employ statistically sound testing criteria and data analysis
  • Continuous scouting of new formulations, catalysts, surfactants, and other additives to assist customer formulation efforts
  • Provide technical leadership and support to Marketing team
  • Assist customers in the qualification of new materials
  • Present findings at industry conferences and associations
  • Participate in all Lab Specific Activities, including EHS
  • Perform other relevant and related duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or Material Sciences required; advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum fifteen (15) years of polyurethane formulation and/or technical support experience in Foam or CASE application required; global experience in the polyurethane industry preferred
  • Experience in product development and process engineering required; prefer candidates with a broad knowledge of rigid and flexible foam, CASE, applications; candidates with an extensive network in the polyurethanes industry are ideal
  • Must be able to communicate and comprehend accurately in English at a level required to perform the job as outlined; excellent communication skills (written and oral), analytical, and business development skills are essential.
  • Must possess good work habits, a strong work ethic, and be able to adhere to company work hours, policies and standard business etiquette
  • Must have a solid understanding of market/industry performance requirements and the ability to manage multiple projects in parallel and complete complex projects with aggressive timelines
  • Must be able to work in a collaborative environment with multidisciplinary teams.
