QC Analytical Chemist (870-3389)

Basic Function

The QC Analytical Chemist will provide support to the Product Steward unit to ensure the quality, safety, and compliance of products for our toll manufacturing group.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct sampling of process R&D samples as requested
  • Conduct sampling of raw materials using key analytical equipment and calibrate analytical equipment, as and when required
  • Carry out quality testing with external providers to ensure inbound and outbound product quality
  • Prepare quality reports, including analytical reports
  • Review data obtained for compliance to specifications and report abnormalities
  • Assist in abnormal problem solving issues
  • Write, review, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) ensuring procedures are carried out carefully and accurately to eliminate errors
  • Observe safety rules, take action on hazards and report these items to supervisor
  • Develop strong, independent working relationship with technology teams
  • Continuously improve analytical methods to reduce time and cost, and improve reliability
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent and two (2) years college chemistry or related science (i.e., biology, materials science) or competency required; Bachelor’s degree in related field of academic study preferred, but not required
  • Nine (9) years’ work experience required, preferably in the chemicals and manufacturing industries
  • Highly proficient in the use of key analytical equipment (i.e., HPLC, IR, UV) and testing methodologies; knowledge and experience with office and technical software (i.e., Microsoft Office, ChemDraw, JMP, SciFinder)
  • Must be able to communicate and comprehend accurately, clearly and concisely in English at a level required to perform the job as outlined and have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Candidate must have excellent record keeping abilities and a willingness to learn and work in a high performing team
  • Must possess good work habits, a strong work ethic, and be able to adhere to company work hours, policies, and standard business etiquette
